Wedding season in India runs in two windows in 2026-27 on Drik Panchang’s New Delhi list: 21 November to 12 December 2026, and 15 January to 14 March 2027. Sign a creator brief about five weeks before a window opens: for the first window that date was 17 October, and for the second it is 11 December.

This guide comes from vexo.club: an influencer marketing agency run from one desk in Delhi NCR. It reads the muhurat windows from Drik Panchang and the spend from CAIT’s own release, links every source, and prints no rate and no result of its own. Everything below is as the sources stood on 18 October 2026.

Wedding season briefs, in short

  1. There are two windows, not one: late November to mid-December, and mid-January to mid-March. Marriage dates pause between them.
  2. Lists differ by source and by region. Plan to a window; the exact day is the family’s, fixed by its priest.
  3. Sign a brief about five weeks before a window opens, with the shoot four weeks out and approvals closed two weeks out.
  4. Jewellery, apparel, beauty, gifting, travel and wedding portals book creators, and each needs its own usage window and exclusivity line.
  5. ASCI’s AI-labelling rules start between the two windows, so a brief for the second window is written under them.

When is the 2026-27 wedding season, by muhurat window?

The season has two windows: 21 November to 12 December 2026, and 15 January to 14 March 2027. That is Drik Panchang’s marriage calendar for New Delhi, read on 18 October 2026, with the 2027 months from its page for 2027. A muhurat is a time the Hindu panchang marks as favourable for a rite.

The 2026-27 wedding season, as Drik Panchang dates it

  1. 20 Nov 2026 Dev Uthani Ekadashi, a day Drik marks as partly overlapping Chaturmas
  2. 21 Nov 2026 Window 1 opens with the first listed marriage date
  3. 12 Dec 2026 Window 1 closes with the last listed date before the Kharmas pause
  4. 15 Jan 2027 Window 2 opens with the first listed date after the pause
  5. 14 Mar 2027 Window 2 closes with the last listed date before the next prohibited solar month
Drik Panchang’s marriage calendar for New Delhi, read on 18 October 2026. It checks the panchang only; a family’s priest sets the final day and hour.

Drik explains the gaps. Its calendar marks 1 to 19 November as Prohibited Chaturmas and 20 November, the day of Dev Uthani Ekadashi, as partly overlapping it, so the first listed date is 21 November. Drik says, “Dhanu/Sagittarius month is also known as Kharmas when marriages are prohibited”, and its calendar marks 17 December to 13 January as a prohibited solar month, with 16 December and 14 January partly overlapping. Listed dates stop after 14 March and resume on 18 April 2027.

Drik Panchang, read on 18 October 2026; panchang checks only. A count of dates is not a count of weddings, and the other list below counts January to March differently.

Lists differ. The Wedding Focus publishes a 2026-27 list, updated on 17 October 2026, that it prepares “According to Hindu Panchang”. It agrees with Drik on 21 November and 14 March but also lists 1 and 13 December, and starts January on the 18th, not the 15th. Drik notes that “many sources publish different South Indian and North Indian marriage dates”, though it argues there should be one set. Weddings in other communities follow their own calendars.

How big did CAIT expect last wedding season to be, and where did it expect the money to go?

In a press release of 30 October 2025, CAIT, the Confederation of All India Traders, projected 46 lakh weddings and ₹6.50 lakh crore of business for 1 November to 14 December 2025, from a study it says it ran across 75 major cities in October 2025. The same release puts 2024 at 48 lakh weddings and ₹5.90 lakh crore, and projects 4.8 lakh weddings and ₹1.8 lakh crore for Delhi.

CAIT’s press release of 30 October 2025, a projection made before the season began. Nine of its fifteen lines are shown. The shares as printed add up to less than a whole, and the release does not say where the rest goes.

CAIT reads the regions differently: luxury and destination weddings in Rajasthan and Gujarat, heritage and temple weddings in the southern states. If CAIT publishes a 2026 projection, it supersedes these last-season figures; none was out on 18 October 2026.

What do the published budget shares measure?

Three different things, so none is a benchmark for your brief. The first two name their base; the third does not:

  • CAIT, 30 October 2025: “1–2% of wedding budgets now allocated to digital content creation and social media coverage.” The base is a wedding’s own budget, not a brand’s.
  • Social Samosa, 20 November 2025: an agency co-founder says influencer marketing “now commands 20-30% of a brand’s wedding-season media budget”. The base is a brand’s media budget, and the speaker is an agency describing its market.
  • The same article: a creator-agency founder says, “There is definitely a premium attached to this season. Brands allocate an additional 10-15% specifically for wedding-led content.” The article does not say what that is 10-15% of; read in context, it is a seasonal premium, not a share.

A share of a media budget and a share of a family’s budget cannot be compared, and an agency’s view of its market is not a survey. Start from your own category and last year’s plan.

Which categories brief creators for weddings?

Jewellery, apparel, beauty and salon, gifting, travel and wedding portals, going by the briefs that brands and creators describe in Social Samosa’s report of 20 November 2025. The table sets out five of them; a wedding-portal brief follows the portal’s own contract.

In that report, a jewellery brand’s chief marketing officer says it is “partnering with influencers who are getting married themselves or attending weddings”. A cosmetics brand’s marketing vice president puts the priority as “not the size of the creator but the strength of their influence on bridal beauty decisions”. The creator-agency founder quoted earlier says brands are moving away from glossy bridal shoots and asking for “real moments”: “day-in-the-life prep, family gifting, trousseau curation, skincare routines, couple-led content.” Fashion creators, by format covers the apparel side.

When does a wedding brief have to lock?

About five weeks before the window opens: Saturday 17 October 2026 for the first window, and Friday 11 December 2026 for the second. This guide counts back from the first date: shoot four weeks out, close approvals two weeks out and post by the first date, with a week at the front for contracts and briefing. The five weeks are not production time: first content can be live in 10 to 14 days for most categories. They are the margin that puts a finished, approved and labelled post up on the first marriage date.

Five, four and two weeks before the first date on Drik Panchang’s New Delhi list. Every other date in a window counts back the same way.

Two things sit under the rule. A rushed brief leaves no room for the label check. And the first window’s approvals fall in Diwali week (Drik’s Diwali calendar has Dhanteras on Friday 6 November and Lakshmi Puja on Sunday 8 November), so close them by Saturday 7 November, before Lakshmi Puja. The festive-season planning note covers Diwali itself.

A brief signed after 17 October can still reach the first window if it shrinks to one format, one language and one round of approvals; signed after Diwali, it belongs to the second window. A compressed plan for the first window:

  1. Sign by Saturday 24 October, with the shortlist agreed.
  2. Shoot by Saturday 31 October.
  3. Close approvals and check the label by Thursday 5 November, before Dhanteras.
  4. Go live on Saturday 21 November, the first date.

The same rule by month is below, and the brief-by calendar for every city has the rest of the year.

Month by month, on the dates counted above. Check each window against the year’s panchang before you lock it.

Which creators fit a wedding brief?

Creators whose audience is already near a wedding and speaks the language it is held in. Read the audience before the niche label (checking an influencer’s audience sets out the method), because a fashion creator whose comments are in the wrong language reaches the wrong families. The desk casts for the language of the comments, not the creator’s city; a launch run in four languages shows how, and a second guide covers creators in the four southern languages.

The fashion and style, beauty and skincare and lifestyle pages show each record’s city, languages and platforms. Nischita Babu, for example, is a fashion and style creator in Bengaluru who creates in English, and Kairavi Dayal a lifestyle creator in Ranchi who creates in Hindi and English. Both are Network · independent on their records: bookable through the desk, with management staying with the creator.

What usage terms does a wedding brief need?

A usage window that outlasts the season, a category lock with dates, and a clear line on whose footage it is. Usage rights separates three rights to price on their own: organic reposting, whitelisting and amplification. If the creator’s own wedding is the content, settle which brands may appear in frame and who holds the photographer’s and videographer’s footage; the creator may not.

Usage terms in a wedding brief

  • Do

Write the usage window in dates that outlast the season

    Don’t

Let it end on the last marriage date

  • Do

Price reposting, whitelisting and amplification as separate lines

    Don’t

Treat a repost right as permission to run the post as an ad

  • Do

Name the category lock and the weeks it covers

    Don’t

Ask for a blanket lock with no dates

  • Do

Settle who owns footage of a creator’s own wedding

    Don’t

Assume the creator holds the photographer’s and videographer’s rights

A briefing checklist, not legal advice; footage ownership turns on the photographer’s contract.

What labels does a wedding post carry, and what changes on 29 December 2026?

Every wedding post with a material connection (money, a gifted piece, a hosted stay) carries ASCI’s disclosure, and from 29 December 2026, three months after ASCI released its AI-labelling guidelines, some AI-made content in an ad needs a second label. ASCI’s influencer guidelines (signed 17 August 2023, read 18 October 2026) count “free products with or without any conditions attached including those received unsolicited”, “gifts” and “trips or hotel stays” as material connections. The label must be upfront (clause 1.2), in English or in the language of the advertisement (clause 1.3); the Instagram “Paid Partnership” tag is on ASCI’s permitted list. ASCI disclosure for brands sets out the placement.

ASCI’s guidelines on synthetically generated content, dated 17 September 2026, “come into effect on the expiration of 3 months from the date of their publication”, and ASCI’s press release dates their release 29 September 2026, which gives 29 December. A brief for the second window is written under them, and so is any window-1 post still running as an ad after 29 December. A synthetic influencer or ambassador needs a label. So does a real person’s face or voice replicated for personalised messaging, even with consent, as in a personalised wedding greeting. Showing a venue as real when it does not exist is prohibited, label or not.

Routine edits such as colour correction and standard blemish removal need no label, as long as they do not change the substance or core claims of the ad; a skincare or makeup result retouched to look better than the product delivers is prohibited, label or not. ASCI does not name AI try-ons; its three assessment questions decide. A try-on of a necklace or lehenga that materially influences the purchase and would mislead without a label needs one (clause 2C covers fabricated settings; 1B prohibits exaggerated results). This is the desk’s working reading of ASCI’s two documents for briefing, not legal advice; for a specific campaign, check the text and your counsel.

The brief-by rule for a wedding window

Numbered brief-by rule: brief five weeks, shoot four, approvals two weeks out, wedding season influencer marketing India

How the desk runs a wedding brief

vexo.club runs it from one desk in Delhi NCR, with one operator per brief. A shortlist comes back in 18 hours, and contracts and briefing take inside a week. The ASCI label is checked before a post goes live, and the audience before casting. Delhi is the one city CAIT sizes on its own (it projected 4.8 lakh weddings there for last season), and Delhi NCR is where the desk sits: the Delhi desk is the page for a brief that starts there.

Before a wedding brief goes out, check six lines:

Six lines a wedding brief carries

  • The window it serves, and the first date a post must be live
  • The category, the format and the language of each creator
  • The claim, with the words that cannot change marked
  • The usage window, in dates that outlast the season
  • The category lock, and the weeks it covers
  • Where the paid label sits, and in which language
Each line is a decision made before the shoot, not after the cut.

A wedding brief for November or January can be sent to the desk through the form, on WhatsApp or by email; the shortlist comes back in 18 hours.

Questions brands ask

When does the wedding season start in India in 2026? On Drik Panchang’s New Delhi list the first marriage date is 21 November 2026, the day after Dev Uthani Ekadashi. The season runs in two windows: to 12 December 2026, and from 15 January to 14 March 2027. Other lists differ by a few days, so plan to the window, not a date.

How early should a brand brief a creator for wedding season? On this guide’s count, about five weeks before a window opens: 17 October 2026 for the first window and 11 December 2026 for the second, with the shoot four weeks out and approvals closed two weeks out. A smaller brief can start later; a full one cannot.

Which creator categories do wedding briefs use? Social Samosa’s report of 20 November 2025 describes briefs in jewellery, apparel, beauty and salon, gifting, travel and wedding portals. The desk casts for the audience and the language of the comments, not for the niche label.

Do wedding posts need the paid partnership label? Yes, wherever there is a material connection. ASCI’s influencer guidelines count money, free products, gifts, and trips or hotel stays; the label must be upfront, in English or the advertisement’s language, and the Instagram “Paid Partnership” tag is on ASCI’s permitted list.

Can a brand reuse wedding content next season? Only if the contract’s usage window says so. Organic reposting, whitelisting and amplification are separate rights with separate windows, so a window that ends with the season does not cover the next one. Settle it before the shoot.
