South Indian influencers, from Kerala to Hyderabad: a guide by language
South Indian influencers work in four languages beside four film industries. Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam creators by language, why a Kerala influencer’s audience may sit partly in the Gulf, and how a brand writes one brief that survives four scripts.

South Indian influencers are easiest to sort by language, not by the city they live in: Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, with English running through all four. Kerala influencers, for instance, work mainly in Malayalam, and their audiences can sit partly abroad as well as in Kerala. This guide comes from vexo.club — an influencer marketing agency run from one desk in Delhi NCR.
That desk runs southern briefs from Delhi NCR. There is no office in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Kerala, and the site has no Kerala city page; the three southern pages are Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Calls and written approvals stand in for the flight, and anything that needs someone on the ground is scoped into the quote first. For the national picture, start with influencers in India, by platform, language and category.
Who are the South Indian influencers?
They are creators who work in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada or Malayalam, or in English for a southern audience, in the same categories as anywhere else: comedy, film talk, food, tech, finance, fashion and fitness. An influencer is a person whose audience acts on what they recommend, and in the south that audience is defined by language before anything else. Each language also sits beside its own cinema, which gives its creators a shared vocabulary of release weekends, dialogue and music.
The four southern languages, side by side
| Desk page | Cinema | Native formats on record | Brief rule | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tamil | Chennai | Tamil cinema | YouTube tech reviews, food vlogs, sketch, podcasts | Written in Tamil first |
| Telugu | Hyderabad | Telugu cinema | Reels cut to film rhythm, food trails | Telugu-first, film-literate |
| Kannada | Bengaluru | Kannada cinema | Comedy, food walks, moto-vlogs; English tech and finance | Two tracks, one feed |
| Malayalam | No city page | Malayalam cinema | Not applicable | Check audience geography first |
A southern address does not settle the language, so a brief asks for both. Keerthika Govindhasamy, from Tamil Nadu, won the Best Storyteller award at the National Creators Award, and The Tribune’s profile describes the history lessons she shares on Instagram and YouTube. Which language a creator posts in, and where the audience watches from, are separate facts that her state alone does not answer.
Who are the Tamil influencers?
Tamil influencers make content in Tamil or Tanglish, which is Tamil and English in one breath, and the desk’s rule for the language is that a script is written in Tamil first. Tamil YouTube is unusually strong: tech reviews and unboxings, food and street-food vlogs, sketch channels, film reviews and a growing podcast shelf.
One public example, by platform and category only: Madan Gowri makes infotainment explainers on YouTube, and Entrepreneur India’s profile describes him as a household name in Tamil Nadu. Cinema is the shared vocabulary here, so Pongal and Deepavali release weekends crowd the feed, and a launch posts around them. Around the OMR corridor, SaaS and career creators post in English and Tanglish on LinkedIn and YouTube, which makes a B2B brief there a local brief. The full picture is on the desk’s page for an influencer marketing agency in Chennai.
Who are the Telugu influencers?
Telugu influencers mostly post in Telugu or Tenglish, with Reels cut to the rhythm of the film calendar. A first-day-first-show Friday competes with the film, so the plan is built around release weekends, not against them.
Hyderabad adds two more layers. The street voice is Dakhni, spoken everywhere and written online in Latin letters, while Hindi and Urdu carry the Old City and the national crossover and English carries the offices. Food is a genre of its own, from biryani trails to Irani café reviews. This guide names no Telugu creator, because a name goes in only where the language and platform are confirmed from a public page; Telugu briefs are shortlisted per brief. The city is covered by genre and language in Hyderabad influencers, and the desk’s method is on the page for influencer marketing in Hyderabad.
Who are the Kannada influencers?
Kannada creators lead comedy, film talk, food walks and moto-vlogs, while English-first creators in Bengaluru cover tech, gadgets, personal finance and startup life. Most Bengaluru briefs need both tracks, and the desk’s page for Bengaluru puts it plainly: Kanglish, the Kannada-English code-mix, is a voice, not a translation.
The desk’s own southern records come from Bengaluru, and they show why the address is not the language. Ishan Sharma is a tech and gadgets creator recorded in Bengaluru, on Instagram and YouTube, with no language listed. Nischita Babu is a fashion and style creator recorded in Bengaluru, on Instagram, and her record says she creates in English and Hindi. Neither is a Kannada-language booking, so a Kannada brief is cast separately, and a Kannada line is read by someone who speaks it before it posts. Bangalore influencers sets out the city’s two tracks in full.
Who are the Kerala influencers?
Kerala influencers are creators from or based in Kerala who work mainly in Malayalam, on Instagram and YouTube, in the same categories as creators anywhere. Pearle Maaney is a public example, by platform and category: her Wikipedia entry describes an actor and television presenter on Malayalam channels whose YouTube channel carries celebrity interviews, lifestyle content and vlogs.
Here the desk’s records are thin, and it says so. No creator on the vexo.club roster is recorded in Kerala, Tamil Nadu or Telangana at the time of writing, and the site has no Kerala city page. A Malayalam brief is cast to the brief: the shortlist arrives in 18 hours and says, for each creator, where they live, what language they post in and where the audience is.
Where do Kerala influencers’ audiences actually live?
Not only in Kerala. Kerala has a large emigrant population, much of it in the Gulf, so a Malayalam creator’s audience can sit partly abroad. Only the creator’s own audience export shows how much of it does.
A Kerala creator’s address and audience are two facts
Where the creator lives
- A city or district in Kerala
- Decides where a shoot can happen
- Says little about who is watching
Where the audience lives
- Kerala, other states and abroad
- Read from the creator’s own exports
- Decides whether the reach is useful
A Malayalam audience can therefore include viewers in the Gulf. That is useful reach for a brand selling there and paid-for reach for one selling only in Kerala. The same question applies in the other languages: Tamil creators carry audiences in Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy and Salem and across the Tamil diaspora, and a Telugu creator in Hyderabad also reaches Andhra Pradesh and the diaspora.
The desk checks audience fit before a rate is agreed, and the brief says whether the wider audience is wanted. The method is in how to check an influencer’s audience before you pay, and the reasoning behind counting people, not followers, is in what we count when we count reach. Tier is a separate lens: micro, macro and celebrity influencers do different jobs, and micro creators suit a language or a single market.
Before a rate is agreed with a southern creator
- Audience by state and by country, from the creator’s own exports
- The language the audience watches in
- Whether the brief wants the audience outside the home state
- Comments read by a person, in the language they are written in
- Recent sponsored posts judged apart from organic ones
- The disclosure label on past paid posts
How does one brief run in four languages?
Approve the claim once, then let each creator write the script natively in their own language. A script translated from English or Hindi is heard as translated, which is why the desk briefs the product and the claim and leaves the punchline to the creator.
One brief, four scripts
- Claim and must-say lines approved onceIn writing, by the brand.
- Shortlist built per languageIn 18 hours, audience checked before casting.
- Each creator writes their own scriptTamil, Telugu, Kannada or Malayalam.
- A native reader checks any brand text on screenBefore it posts.
- Disclosure checked in the caption languageASCI, before a post goes live.
- Weekly reportReach, engagement rate, CPA, CPM and the next move.
The clock is the one every city gets: contracts and briefing inside a week and first content live in 10–14 days for most categories. One operator runs the brief from scoping to the last report, and creator fees are line items with the desk’s fee stated separately. Running a regional launch in four languages sets out what changes in scripting and approvals, and ASCI disclosure for brands says who labels what.
When is the South Indian creator calendar busiest?
In mid-January, with Pongal and Sankranti, and again from September to November, through Dasara and Deepavali. Film release weekends fall on the same dates, so briefs go in early: Pongal briefs lock in early December and Deepavali briefs by early September, according to the Chennai page.
Dates the desk’s southern city pages plan around
| Month | On the calendar |
|---|---|
| January | Pongal and SankrantiMid-January. The biggest Tamil festival and the Telugu states’ biggest, with film releases. |
| March | UgadiMarch to April. The Telugu and Kannada new year. |
| July | AadiJuly to August. Tamil Nadu’s discount season, with T. Nagar at its densest. |
| September | Bathukamma and DasaraSeptember to October. Telangana’s floral festival, then Dasara. |
| October | DeepavaliOctober to November. Clothes, sweets, electronics and gifting. |
| November | Karnataka RajyotsavaNovember. Kannada-first creative is expected. |
Each city has its own calendar, listed by month: Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. For the planning method, festive-season influencer campaigns works month by month.
Questions brands ask
Who are the most popular Kerala influencers? There is no honest single ranking, because platforms count followers differently and audiences include viewers abroad. Kerala creators work mainly in Malayalam on Instagram and YouTube, and a useful list is cut by category and checked for where each audience lives.
Do South Indian influencers post in English? Some do, especially in tech, finance and startup content in Bengaluru and Chennai, and most regional reach comes from Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, often mixed with English. On the desk’s own roster, Nischita Babu in Bengaluru is recorded as creating in English and Hindi.
Can one campaign run in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam at once? Yes, if the claim is approved once and each script is written natively in its language by the creator, not translated from English or Hindi. The shortlist is built per language, not per city.
Why check a Kerala creator’s audience location? Because Kerala has a large emigrant population, much of it in the Gulf, so a Malayalam creator’s audience can sit partly abroad. That is useful for a brand selling in the Gulf and wasted reach for one selling only in Kerala.
Does vexo.club work in South India? Yes, from its one desk in Delhi NCR, with city pages for Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru and no office in any of them. Kick-off, shortlist review and approvals run on calls and in writing, and shoots follow the creators. To start, send a brief.
Is there a South India influencer marketing agency? Several agencies describe themselves that way, and they differ by kind more than by size; influencer marketing agencies in India, and how to tell them apart sorts them. vexo.club is not based in the south: it runs southern briefs from its desk in Delhi NCR. The company is Vexocore IT Services Private Limited, CIN U72900RJ2022PTC085082, and the rules every paid post follows are in influencer marketing in India.
