India brief-by calendar

Every city moment on vexo.club, month by month, with the month to brief by so the shortlist is ready before the window opens.

The calendar

January

  • Makar Sankranti and the marathonJan

Tilgul is exchanged with “tilgul ghya, god god bola” — take the sweet, speak sweetly — and kites go up in the Gujarati neighbourhoods. The city marathon runs Marine Drive and the sea link the same month: run clubs, sportswear, nutrition, wearables. Sponsor marks need a licence.

    Brief by December.

  • Kala Ghoda and tax-saving seasonJan–Mar

The free arts festival in SoBo puts art and culture creators out in force: design, lifestyle, beverage and camera briefs. Meanwhile BKC’s busiest window — investing, insurance and tax-saving content, every script inside SEBI’s rules.

    Brief by December.

March

  • Gudi PadwaMar–Apr

The Marathi new year and an auspicious purchase day: homes, vehicles, gold, appliances. Processions in Girgaon and Thane. The most natural moment on the calendar for Marathi-first creative. Keep the brand light.

    Brief by February.

  • IPL and hapus seasonMar–Jun

Match nights drive QSR, beverages, delivery, OTT and electronics — with ambush guardrails, no league or team marks without rights, no real-money gaming. And the mango: hapus drops, D2C fruit boxes, first-box content. The window is short. Brief early.

    Brief by February.

June

  • MonsoonJun–Sep

The first-rain post is a citywide ritual; plan it in May. Rainwear, delivery, chai-and-snack, skin and hair care, vehicle insurance, Lonavala and Alibaug weekends. Shoots get indoor backups, waterproof calendars and travel buffers.

    Brief by May.

August

  • GaneshotsavAug–Sep

Ten days that reshape traffic, processions and creator schedules. Brands stay with logistics, community, food and home-hosting stories. No products near idols, no deity imagery, no puns.

    Brief by July.

September

  • Navratri to DiwaliSep–Nov

Garba nights across the western and central suburbs: ethnic fashion, footwear, makeup that lasts. Then the festive sale season, gifting, jewellery, faral — the homemade Diwali snacks — and Diwali Pahat morning concerts, a Marathi tradition. The year’s biggest spend window. Diyas, not firecrackers.

    Brief by August.

November

  • Wedding and winter seasonNov–Feb

Wedding fashion, jewellery, beauty, travel and music-festival weekends. December lights in Bandra’s lanes give year-end party-wear and F&B briefs their backdrop. Nightlife content stays outside surrogate advertising.

    Brief by October.
