# Mumbai influencers: the creators, the languages and the city's formats

> Mumbai influencers include film-adjacent names, Marathi comedians, food creators and finance explainers, often managed and often working in three languages. Who a brand meets by niche, which formats belong to the city, and how to check a Mumbai audience before booking.

Mumbai influencers fall into two groups: national creators who live in the city, often film-adjacent and managed, and creators the city itself watches, many of them Marathi comedians and food creators. This guide comes from vexo.club — an influencer marketing agency run from one desk in Delhi NCR — and the desk has no Mumbai office. Mumbai briefs are run from Delhi NCR, and the guide sorts the city's creators by niche, language and format, not by follower count.

The names below are of two kinds, and each is labelled. Creators on the desk's roster are described only from their records; public creators are named by platform and category, from their own pages or public reference pages. One idea runs through all of it: where a creator lives is not where the audience lives, and that is the check a brand needs most.

## Who are the influencers in Mumbai?

They are creators who live or work in the Mumbai region — the island city, the suburbs, Navi Mumbai and Thane — in comedy, food, fashion, finance, tech, education and film-adjacent entertainment. They work in Marathi, Hindi, Hinglish, English and Gujarati, often in two or three at once. An influencer, for a brand's purposes, is a creator whose audience acts on what they recommend, which is why the audience matters more than the address.

Talent managers, production houses, podcast studios and casting offices sit within a few kilometres of each other, from Andheri to Bandra. That is why many Mumbai creators are managed and the output is polished. Parts of the city also make different content, so a brief should name the part it wants, not just the city.

**Figure: How the parts of Mumbai differ for a creator brief**

| | Usual register | Native formats | Briefs that fit |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| South Mumbai | English-leaning, premium | Blue-hour shoot on the promenade | Luxury retail, hospitality, art and design |
| BKC | English | Finance explainer inside SEBI rules | Banking, insurance, fintech |
| Bandra | English and Hinglish lifestyle | Café walk, thrift haul, run club | Lifestyle, fashion, food |
| Andheri | Set per brief | Studio-made, high production values | Managed talent, terms agreed first |
| Powai | English and Hinglish | Founder on camera, explainer, demo | App, fintech, edtech, healthtech |
| Navi Mumbai and Thane | Marathi-first | Family content, festival energy, walkthroughs | Mass-market reach, residential launches |

*One city for a brief, six different places for a shoot. The shortlist says which one the content is made in.*

## Lives in Mumbai, or watched in Mumbai: two different lists

A brand needs one of two lists, and they are not the same. The first is creators who live in Mumbai: national in reach, often film-adjacent, often managed. The second is creators Mumbai watches: Marathi comedy, local food, family content from Navi Mumbai and Thane.

**Figure: Two Mumbai lists, and the brief each one serves**

*Creators who live in Mumbai*

- National reach, audiences spread across the country
- Often film-adjacent and often managed
- Suits a national launch, with audience fit stated per creator

*Creators Mumbai watches*

- Marathi comedy, local food, family content
- Audiences concentrated in the city, Navi Mumbai and Thane
- Suits a store opening, a Thane mall floor or a Mumbai-only launch

*The same city, two different questions. Which list a brand needs depends on whether the brief is national or Mumbai-only.*

Lists built from audience location show the second group. [Modash's Mumbai list](https://www.modash.io/find-influencers/india/mumbai) says it is ordered by the share of each creator's audience that is in Mumbai, and what it puts first is mostly Marathi stand-up and comedy creators, actors and a food creator, not the national names who happen to live in the city. That is the list doing its job: it answers who Mumbai watches, not who lives here.

An audience check is the review of a creator's exports, comments and audience geography before anyone agrees a fee. The desk runs it before casting, so the shortlist arrives with each creator's audience fit stated, in the order below. The full method is in [how to check an influencer's audience before you pay](https://vexo.club/blog/checking-an-influencers-audience).

**Figure: How the desk checks a Mumbai creator before casting**

1. Ask for exports — The creator's own audience data, not screenshots
2. Read audience geography — Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, or the rest of the country
3. Read the comments — Language and the signs of a bought following
4. State the fit — On the shortlist, before a rate is agreed

*The same four steps for any city; for Mumbai the geography and language steps decide which of the two lists a creator belongs to.*

## Mumbai influencers by niche

These are the niches Mumbai briefs cast from. Roster creators are described from their records and nothing more; public creators are named by platform and category, with nothing about reach or earnings.

- **Comedy and entertainment.** Marathi and Hinglish comedy, family sketches and film crossover run through the city. [Prajakta Koli](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prajakta_Koli) makes comedy on YouTube and acts; Wikipedia records that she grew up in Thane.
- **Food.** [Sanjyot Keer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanjyot_Keer) is a chef who makes recipe videos on YouTube; Wikipedia places him in Mumbai. The native format is the food walk, filmed where the creator lives.
- **Fashion and beauty.** The roster has no Mumbai record in fashion or beauty, and this article does not invent one. The city's formats are the Linking Road thrift haul and the get-ready-with-me filmed in Bandra.
- **Finance and BFSI.** English-led and anchored in BKC. Finance creators work under SEBI's rules as well as ASCI's, and the desk keeps a finance script educational, with no return claims. The roster has no Mumbai finance record.
- **Tech and gadgets.** [AevyTV](https://vexo.club/roster/aevytvdaily) is recorded in Mumbai, on Instagram and YouTube, creating in English. Its profile describes a digital media brand around technology, culture, business and the trends shaping modern India.
- **Education.** [Gaurav Thakur](https://vexo.club/roster/gauravzthakur) is recorded in Mumbai, on Instagram and YouTube. His profile describes a digital creator and founder of Getsetfly Media, covering science, history, geopolitics, technology and knowledge-driven topics.
- **Film crossover.** Launches here can mix creators with actors. The desk casts them to the brief like any other creator, and the paid-partnership label goes on the post every time.
- **Real estate.** Walkthroughs in Thane and Navi Mumbai, where residential launches happen, are cast to the format and the audience; the roster has no record to name there.

Both roster profiles carry the label [Network — independent](https://vexo.club/trust#roster-labels): the creator is bookable through the desk, and their management stays with them. The whole set, filtered by niche and city, is on the [roster](https://vexo.club/roster). A niche not named here can still be briefed, because the desk casts to the brief and the roster is a starting point, not a limit.

## Marathi creators: the scene most national briefs miss

Marathi is the register of Thane, Parel and Dadar and of a creator scene of its own in comedy, family sketches, food and music. A national brief written in Hindi and English misses that scene by default, and the scene crosses over to Pune and the rest of Maharashtra.

Gudi Padwa, the Marathi new year in March and April, is an auspicious purchase day for homes, vehicles, gold and appliances, and the most natural moment on the calendar for Marathi-first creative. Gujarati is large in the western and central suburbs, and Hinglish is the everyday link between all of them. Language is set in the brief, and each creator on the shortlist is chosen for it; [running a regional launch in four languages](https://vexo.club/blog/regional-launch-four-languages) covers casting and approvals across several. For the Pune audience that the same creators reach, see the [influencer marketing company in Pune](https://vexo.club/influencer-marketing-company/pune) page.

## Which formats are native to Mumbai?

Reels and Shorts come first, then long-form YouTube and video podcasts. The city's own formats are specific, and a creator is often recognisable by where the video was filmed.

- Comedy sketches and family skits, in Marathi, Hinglish or both.
- Food walks.
- Thrift hauls on Linking Road and café walks in Bandra.
- Run clubs on the promenades.
- Finance explainers inside SEBI's lines.
- Real-estate walkthroughs in Thane and Navi Mumbai.
- The first-rain post, a citywide ritual that is planned in May.

Bandra is also where a paid collaboration gets noticed fastest. The disclosure goes on the post every time, and the desk checks the ASCI label before a post goes live. [ASCI disclosure for brands](https://vexo.club/blog/asci-disclosure-rules-for-brands) sets out who labels what.

## When are Mumbai influencers booked out?

Around Ganeshotsav, through the run from Navratri to Diwali, and in the wedding season. The monsoon also moves shoots indoors from June. Brief the month before a window opens, because shoot calendars fill first.

**Figure: Mumbai's creator calendar, by the month a window opens**

| Month | On the calendar | Note |
| --- | --- | --- |
| January | Makar Sankranti, the marathon and Kala Ghoda | January. Tilgul, kites, run clubs and art creators; tax-saving content runs to March. |
| March | Gudi Padwa, then IPL and hapus season | March to April for the Marathi new year; IPL and the mango run to June. |
| June | Monsoon | June to September. The first-rain post, rainwear, delivery, skin and hair care. |
| August | Ganeshotsav | August to September. The festival reshapes traffic, processions and creator schedules. |
| September | Navratri to Diwali | September to November. The biggest spend window of the year. |
| November | Wedding and winter season | November to February. Wedding fashion, jewellery, beauty, travel and music festivals. |

*Months, never year-specific dates, because festival dates move. Brief the month before.*

A Mumbai plan carries a weather clause and a festival buffer, or it is not a plan. IPL nights own the second half of the evening from March to June, which suits food delivery, beverages, OTT and electronics, with no league or team marks used without rights and no real-money gaming. The [Mumbai brief-by calendar](https://vexo.club/resources/calendar/mumbai) lists each moment by month, and [planning festive-season influencer campaigns](https://vexo.club/blog/festive-season-influencer-planning) sets out the plan from Navratri to Bhai Dooj.

## How do you work with Mumbai influencers?

Usually through the creator's manager, directly, or through an agency that deals with the manager. Each route works; they differ in who writes the brief, the contract and the report, and who answers if a post is wrong. Rate cards in Mumbai tend to run higher because so much talent is managed and production values are high, and the desk publishes no prices: fees come as line items at the creator's rate-card price, with a fixed-percentage management fee on top, and a quote follows the brief.

From the desk's side, distance adds a call, not a day. The kick-off, shortlist review and approvals run on video calls and in writing, and content is filmed where the creator lives. The clock is the same as for every city: a shortlist in 18 hours, contracts and briefing inside a week, and first content live in 10–14 days for most categories. Anything that needs someone from the desk on the ground in Mumbai goes into the plan and the quote before you sign.

**Figure: What to settle in writing before a Mumbai studio is booked**

- Usage rights, per deliverable, and their window
- Whitelisting terms, if the post will run as a paid ad
- Exclusivity, if any
- A weather clause and a festival buffer
- ASCI disclosure on every paid post
- Every finance script checked against SEBI rules

*Managed talent means these lines are negotiated early. Fees come back as line items, so two proposals can be compared.*

What to avoid when briefing in Mumbai:

- Choosing a creator because of the postcode. Check the audience instead.
- Using a list ordered by audience location as a list of the most useful creators for a national launch.
- Booking a studio before usage and whitelisting terms are in writing.
- A hidden or buried paid-partnership label.
- Placing products near idols or using deity imagery in Ganeshotsav week.
- Writing a finance script that makes return claims.
- Leaving Marathi out of a brief whose audience is Thane, Navi Mumbai or Parel.

## Questions brands ask

**Who are the most popular influencers in Mumbai?** Mumbai has two kinds: national creators who live in the city, often film-adjacent and managed, and creators the city itself watches most, many of them Marathi comedians and food creators. A brand picks between them by whether the brief is national or Mumbai-only.

**Are there Marathi influencers in Mumbai?** Yes. Marathi is the register of Thane, Parel and Dadar and of a creator scene of its own in comedy, family sketches, food and music that also reaches Pune and the rest of Maharashtra.

**Are Mumbai influencers more expensive?** Rate cards in Mumbai tend to run higher because so much talent is managed and production values are high. The desk publishes no prices and quotes per brief, with creator fees shown as line items.

**How do I work with a Mumbai influencer?** Usually through their manager. Put usage, whitelisting and exclusivity in writing before any studio is booked, and label every paid post. Creators on the vexo.club roster are bookable through the desk: send a brief that names the creator, and the desk takes it to them or their management.

**When are Mumbai creators hardest to book?** Around Ganeshotsav, in the Navratri-to-Diwali season and in the wedding season. The monsoon moves shoots indoors from June, so brief the month before a window opens.

**How do I find micro influencers in Mumbai?** Through the platforms' own search, a discovery tool or an agency shortlist. The check is the same at any size: where the audience lives, which language it watches in, and whether it is real. [Micro and nano influencer marketing](https://vexo.club/micro-influencer-marketing) covers when smaller creators fit the objective.
