Most revision cycles are caused by the brief, not the creator. The four-line format below is built so that one revision is enough.

**In short: The brief, at a glance**

1. Most revision cycles are caused by the brief, not the creator.
2. The brief is four lines, in this order. That is the whole brief.
3. Leave out reference reels from other niches, shot lists, script drafts and tone essays.
4. Spend the one revision on the claim, never the style.

## What are the four lines?

The brief is four lines, in this order. That is the whole brief.

1. The single thing the viewer should remember.
2. The one claim you must make, worded as legal approved it.
3. What never to say or show.
4. The CTA and where it points.

## What should a brief leave out?

Reference reels from other niches, shot lists, script drafts and tone essays. Each one narrows the creator toward imitation, and imitation is what their audience punishes. You hired the audience relationship; let it work.

## The one revision

Spend it on the claim, never the style. If the hook feels wrong to the creator, trust them: completion rate is their livelihood. If the claim or the paid label is wrong, fix it before posting. Everything else ships.

| Do | Don’t | Note |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Spend the one revision on the claim | Spend it on the style | If the claim is wrong, fix it before posting. |
| Trust the creator on the hook | Overrule it | Completion rate is their livelihood. |
| Let everything else ship | Hold the post for more rounds | |

*One revision is enough when the brief is right.*

Four lines are for a creator. A brief to an agency also carries the budget band, the market and the timeline, and is set out in [How to brief an influencer marketing agency](https://vexo.club/blog/how-to-brief-an-influencer-marketing-agency); [the open brief template](https://vexo.club/resources/templates) lays that longer version out as a form.
